Regulatory Manager - Cosmetics

Our client, a leader in the development and production of high-quality color cosmetics, skin care, hair care, bath & body care and OTC products, is seeking an experienced Regulatory Manager to oversee regulatory compliance for their global contract manufacturing facilities.
Will partner with management in leading regulatory affairs program, including supervising regulatory affairs specialists and enhancing, implementing and supporting product regulatory affairs. Executes industry best practices to ensure company meets or exceeds the product regulatory requirements.

  • Provide scientific leadership and transparency of internal regulatory compliance practices to stakeholders, both internal and external, to support regulatory agency and consumer confidence in products
  • Implement new and revised regulatory agency and retailer requirements impacting products
  • Lead the regulatory team in developing and documenting programs and associated processes to comply with regulations and government and Non-Government Organization (NGO) certifications
  • Work proactively with cross-functional teams to stay abreast of proposed product launches impacting formulation, package, or labeling
  • Provide guidance to the regulatory specialists and perform raw material, formulation and packaging regulatory evaluations to confirm compliance with local, state and federal requirements in the US and Canada for new beauty care product development projects
  • Provide guidance to the regulatory specialists and approve label copy and artwork to confirm compliance with local, state and federal requirements in the US and Canada for new beauty care product development projects
  • Provide guidance to the regulatory specialists and confirm GHS hazard identification and classification is compliant for products sold in the US and Canada
  • Where necessary, recommend testing strategies and/or confirm required testing is conducted according to acceptable regulatory requirements or industry standards
  • Participate in trade associations and/or alliances to support cosmetic needs, as directed by management
  • Corroborate with management in interfacing with regulatory authorities 
 
Who we are looking for
  • Bachelor of Science degree; Masters of Science degree in chemistry, physics, biology or engineering preferred
  • Minimum of five years of regulatory experience with a beauty care/cosmetics company 
  • Knowledge of packaging components and raw materials used in the beauty/personal care industry
  • Familiarity with cosmetic and over-the-counter (OTC) drug US federal and state regulations promulgated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as they relate to raw materials, formulations, packaging and labeling compliance of beauty care, cosmetics and OTC drugs; familiarity with related Canadian federal and provincial regulations
  • Supervisory experience strongly desired
